Vacation Bible School and Mini-Missions

Middle School Mini-Missions June 18-22 Mon.-Fri., 9:00 AM-1:00 PM Rising 6th through rising 9th graders are encouraged to register for a week of service in the Roanoke Valley.  Each day will begin with a Bible study about a way that Jesus served others, and then we will go to an agency to serve others.  This is a great way to get acquainted with other middle schoolers, to serve your community, and to put the teachings of the Bible into action.  Registration forms will be available at church beginning Mother’s Day (May 13) and on the church website (www.salempres.org).  If you would like to volunteer as an adult driver, would like to provide snacks, or have questions, please contact Janet Chisom. Mini-Missions Registration Form Elementary Vacation Bible School (VBS) July 9-13 Mon.-Fri., 9:00 AM-Noon   Children who will enter kindergarten in the fall through rising 5th graders are invited to explore “SonRise National Park.”  We are again teaming up with College Lutheran Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for a week of learning, music, activities, fun, snacks, and friends.  Registration forms will be available at the church beginning Mother’s Day (May 13) and on the church website (www.salempres.org).  If you would like to volunteer to teach, assist with snacks, help in the art room, or lead recreation that week, please speak with Janet Chisom or Kim Murray. Mission Trip

Mission trips are a week of hard work, lots of fun, good friends and an opportunity to do something that makes a difference in the life of another person or family.  This summer we will again be working as part of Presbyterian Mission Week in Alleghany County, Virginia.  The mission statement for Presbyterian Mission Week reads as follows:  Our goal is to perform repairs and make improvements to the homes of lower-income older adults and disabled people who otherwise could not afford them.  This includes repairs and improvements like replacing rotted flooring, steps, and constructing hand rails and wheel-chair ramps.  The mission trip is open to students entering ninth grade through adults, but middle school students are accepted as long as a parent comes with them. Salem Daily Bible Study

Recycle Sunday

Recycle Sunday!  There will be four large trash cans at the church on the last Sunday of each month to collect recyclables: plastics (#1 and #2), newspapers, soda cans and bi-metal cans. We will take them to the recycling center that day.  You can assist in several ways: bring in your recycling and contact Ellen Breedlove (389-8998) if you'd like to be a part of the recycling team.  Together we can make a difference in beautifying God's world!
